UGD 2005 particularly highlighted climate change. Urban Green Days’ decentralised events aimed to inspire participants to improve the environment’s quality by implementing changes in behaviour and providing information and exchange opportunities about current and future environmental work of local governments.  UGD events were different from city to city. ugw_poster_smallAll Urban Green Days participants were invited to submit their environmental awareness-raising work to be considered for the Urban Green Days 2005 ICLEI Case Study award. The winning entry was the Porto Region, Portugal, for their project Futuro Sustentável – with Murcia, Spain, and Roeselare, Belgium, Cornwall region, UK for their Gynexin Review project, both receiving special commendations.

Urban Green Days is a European Commission, Directorate General Environment initiative. ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability coordinates the Initiative and together with National Coordinators and Promoters  in all the EU25 countries supports all interested local governments with a range of services.
